loving an addict is this the new normal?

Has it become the new norm to fall/be in love with addicts? Do we realize it in the beginning? Are we blinded by our love, lust, or even just the like of a person? Or is it’s somewhat the new normal for this generation of ours? How can we fix this? Is it too far gone? Is it too late and has it just become something we’ve adapted to overtime? I’ve personally been affected by this “lifestyle." It’s like I was almost inevitably to being one myself. For so long drugs have controlled so many things in our lives like love, family, money, power, and even pain. Let's talk about it!

Holding on is what’s killing you.

We build shrines of poison disguise as love inside the walls of our heart and wonder why it's slowly killing us.

This is how you know!

There will be men who swim in your skin and others who drowned themselves in everything that lies beneath!

I am both a healer and a hammer. I fix everyone i can But in the end, I have no strength left to heal me.

Addiction is such a real issue in our community. It’s talked about frequently and celebrated in our culture. It’s sad. And truth be told most times when dealing with relationships whether family , friends or lovers, the realization of the addiction sometimes comes after you’ve established a deep connection and bond with the person. After this realization you may feel the need to stay and help them through the issues plaguing them to rely on this addiction. Most times it leads to heartache, mistrust and broken relationships. Speaking from experience it’s a struggle to let go of certain relationships knowing how bad you need to end them.
